We’ll be heading back to 1981 when, among other things: MTV premieres; the last episode of “The Waltons” airs; President Reagan survives an assassination attempt; New York City raises its transit fares from 60 to 75 cents; Sandra Day O’Connor becomes the first female Supreme Court Justice; “Escape From New York,” starring Kurt Russell as Snake Plisskin lights up movie screens; and Carl Jackson, Jim & Jesse and the Johnson Mountain Boys unleash some righteous grass.
