Nashville International Airport expects no immediate impact from the American Airlines bankruptcy.
American accounts for nine percent of the passenger traffic leaving Nashville but it dominated BNA in the mid-80s when the city was chosen as an American hub.
Since then, Southwest has taken over the top spot. The discount airline is responsible for 56 percent of all travelers departing Nashville. American was second in size until Delta and Northwest merged and pushed it to number three.
American flights are taking off as scheduled. But long term, a spokesperson from Nashville International says the effects of American’s bankruptcy are impossible to predict.
