Former fire Chief Buck Dozier placed fourth in the mayor’s race. He conceded early in the evening, about an hour and a half after polls closed.
“Throughout my life I’ve always adhered to the principal that we should do our best…and along the way, we respect those that we come in contact with. We put that principle to the test in this campaign. We did our best. We gave it our all. And we showed respect to those we came in contact with.”
Dozier has yet to decide which candidate he plans to support in the mayoral runoff election, if he decides to support anyone at all. Bob Clement denied rumors that he offered Dozier a place in his administration. When asked if he would accept an office from the next mayor, Dozier said he only hopes to spend his time in the service of the city of Nashville.
