Voters in Tennessee are getting only a small break from political campaigns. Former Tennessee Senator Bill Frist’s announcement last week that he will not run for Governor in 2010 was obviously what some Republicans were waiting to hear. Within hours of Frist’s announcement, Bill Gibbons, the District Attorney from Shelby County declared his candidacy. Congressman Zach Wamp and Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam were close behind. WPLN’s state capitol correspondent Joe White and Morning Edition’s Jacqueline Fellows talk about who these three candidates are in what’s shaping up to be a crowded Republican Primary next August.
