Freezing weather in January is expected to put a damper on home sales nationwide, but it didn’t in Nashville. Sales in the area increased, compared to the same month last year.
More than 1,700 homes were sold in January. The Greater Nashville Association of Realtors says that’s a nearly nine percent increase from the same month in 2013.
“Houses were moving pretty fast for people that were looking for them,” said Robert Schley. He started looking in December and just closed on a two story home in Cane Ridge. “This time of year, it seems like there’s not a whole lot on the market and what is on the market, people are trying to move them fast.”
The median price in the Nashville area was $195,000 in January, compared to $167,000 last year.
