The non-profit that coordinated much of Nashville’s relief operations after the 2010 flood has won a national award for that work.
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development today handed out its first ever Awards for Community Foundations. The agency picked one from each of its ten regions. The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee was singled out for collecting a total of 15 million dollars from more than 20-thousand individuals following the flood, which in turn were used to rebuild homes, replace belongings and pay for case management and rental assistance.
