Franklin-based Community Health Systems has again raised its offer to buy Tenet Healthcare of Dallas. A letter sent to Tenet Monday gives the hospital operator just one week to consider its last offer of $7.25 a share. That’s up from $6.00 a share.
The takeover-bid has not been welcomed by Tenet, which has even turned to suing Community Health, accusing the hospital chain of bilking Medicare.
In a statement, Community Health CEO Wayne Smith says he’s looking for a “prompt conclusion” and will move on to other “growth opportunities” if Tenet fails to start negotiating.
