The latest fundraising totals show Democrat Heidi Campbell outraised Republican Andy Ogles in the race for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District. But Campbell’s cash advantage may not matter as much since redistricting.
From mid-June to the end of September, Heidi Campbell raised $533,415, that’s nearly $200,000 more than her opponent Andy Ogles, who raised $242,430.
During that time, Campbell also spent more than Ogles. Most of their spending is going toward campaign ads and travel. Still, Campbell has her work cut out for her.
Pollsters predict Republicans will win the district, which went for former president Donald Trump by about 11 percentage points.
Over the weekend, Trump endorsed Ogles. Campbell took to Twitter reminding voters that Trump had earlier endorsed a different Republican candidate during the primary.
Heading into the final few weeks, Heidi Campbell has a little under $597,356 left to spend while Ogles has $454,636. Early voting begins Wednesday, Oct. 19.
