Today is the first day of early voting in Tennessee. And in Davidson County, there’s a lot on the ballot. It’s the longest ballot in county history, according to the election commission.
Taking up most of the space are four proposed amendments to Metro’s charter.

Raymond Thomasson, a West End resident, says this election requires more time to cast his votes.
“I’m 72 years old. I started voting when I was 18. I have never missed an election,” Thomasson said. “And it is the longest ballot I’ve ever had since I’ve started voting.”
Thomasson filled his sample ballot out at home before coming in, and you can do the same. Visit GoVoteTN.org to find your ballot.
Citizens can vote early now through Saturday, July 30. In Davidson County, early voting is only available at the Howard Office Building until Wednesday, when more sites will open. Election Day is August 4.
