Davidson County saw a strong start to Election Day voting this morning, with several locations reporting lines forming before they even opened their doors.
Nashville Elections Administrator Jeff Roberts explained that the county’s election commission keeps track of voting trends by looking at their 35 largest precincts. According to that sample, day-of voting is up compared to the last presidential election, with 21,432 ballots cast as of 5 p.m., compared to 17,035 at the same time in 2020.
Early voting dropped this year by more than 13% from 2020’s record-setting numbers. That means we could be looking at a situation closer to what we saw in 2022, when 51% of the total votes were cast before Election Day, compared to 75% in 2020.
Roberts added that there have not been any issues reported with excessive lines or voting machines.
