Investigators from the U.S. Navy are continuing to unravel why a Blue Angels jet went down shortly after takeoff yesterday.
Although there is video of the accident, the answers might take some time to find.
Although the Blue Angels were only making a practice run, there were still plenty of people on the ground watching. They included Briann McGriff, who shot video of the crash’s aftermath, including the fireball and column of black smoke that erupted on impact, and posted the footage to Facebook.
As she and her grandmother wail, McGriff’s video captures the remaining Blue Angels passing over the wreckage.
A spokeswoman for Naval Air Forces says investigators are interviewing witnesses like McGriff and reviewing their footage.
But she says it typically takes two to four months to determine the cause of an accident such as this.
