Nashville may have its first case of monkeypox. The Metro Public Health Department says an individual tested positive after traveling out of the country, but the CDC will conduct another round of testing to confirm the results.
The person was not hospitalized and is currently isolating at home. Metro Health says most people recover in 2-4 weeks, when the rash has fully healed. Those not experiencing monkeypox symptoms cannot spread the virus to others, but Metro Health will be monitoring contacts for several weeks, as it can take up to 21 days for symptoms to develop.
We are working with the patient's healthcare provider to learn who might have been exposed to the virus while the patient was infectious. Right now they are isolating at home. pic.twitter.com/Z1vIeHKZxk
