Michael Robertson (he/him) is the newest member of Nashville Public Radio. As the organization’s Director of Finance, Michael is actively involved in budgeting and overall financial management of the organization. Get to know him.
1. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An NBA player. I basically wanted to emulate Michael Air Jordan. Since I saw him win the ’88 dunk contest I would go in my room and play MJ on my Nerf basketball goal. Until I accidentally kicked a hole in the wall. Mom wasn’t too excited about that one. LOL.
2. a) Do you consider yourself to be a foodie? b) Any favorite Nashville restaurants so far? c) Any places on your “must try” list?
Would say I am a huge foodie, but I am a sucker for new snacks. Impulse buys for snacks on the end-cap get me almost anytime. I figure it’s a small $1 or $2 investment for something that could be great. Current new snacks that I have really been enjoying are Flaming Hot Cool Ranch Doritos, Honey BBQ Fritos, and numerous flavors of Rap Snacks.
3. What do you like to do for fun outside the office?
I really like movies, especially sci-fi-based ones; tv shows as well. I also am a fan of amusement parks and love water parks. I also enjoy light hiking, not too much more than two hours.
4. What’s your go-to karaoke song? (Not that we’d ever make you sing it.)
My go-to karaoke song is It Takes Two by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock. I feel like I basically know all of the words to it so I don’t have to follow along on the screen. Plus, it always gets the party hype!
5. What’s something you’ve tried that most people haven’t?
I have done cliff jumping at Rick’s Café in Negril, Jamaica.
