NEW 6/16/10: Flood Repair Permits
Owners of flood-damaged one and two-family residential properties located in Davidson County may apply for, receive and print their flood-repair permits online, without having to visit the Codes Department. Affected property owners can learn more and apply online here. The fee for flood-repair permits is being waived up to $1,300 for permits issued through July 30.
Owners of flood-damaged properties outside of the floodplain are immediately eligible for a building permit. If your property is located within the 100-year floodplain, before a building permit can be issued, it must first be determined: 1) If your property is located within the floodway (the most dangerous part of the 100-year floodplain); 2) If the structure sustained damage greater than 50% of its appraised value; and 3) If the first floor of the property meets federal elevation standards. A flyer about who is eligible for a building permit is available for download here.

July 6th deadline for FEMA registration approaches
The deadline to register for federal assistance following last month’s flood is July 6th.
If you have received a U.S. SBA disaster loan application for physical damages, it must be completed and returned to SBA by July 6 to be eligible for other federal assistance.
As you begin to recover from the floods, insurance may not meet all your needs. Federal assistance from FEMA may help with expenses insurance does not cover, so register with FEMA even if you have insurance.
Volunteering
Anyone wanting to volunteer to assist with disaster relief should visit the website for Hands on Nashville to register and search for volunteer opportunities. In the Middle Tennessee area, dial 211 to inquire about volunteer opportunities.
CFMT collecting separate funds for Nashville and State of Tennessee
In partnership with Davidson County’s Office of Emergency Management, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has activated its Metro Nashville Disaster Response Fund to help to those affected by the May 2010 floods. Donations of any size are welcome. Grants from the fund will be made to organizations supporting relief and restoration in the Davidson County area.
