Some Nashville mayoral candidates waited until the last 20 minutes to hand in their campaign finance reports.
These statements, due Monday afternoon, show how much money they’ve raised and spent since July and provide insights into their campaigns.
Former school board chairman David Fox sat in the election commission office until 10 minutes before it closed, double checking his report. The statement he handed in shows he’s using more personal money than any of his competitors, lending himself more than $1 million.
Meanwhile, other candidates have lent themselves a couple hundred thousand dollars each: metro councilwoman Megan Barry ($200,000), businesswoman Linda Rebrovick ($350,000) and attorney Charles Robert Bone ($200,000).
The only one to not use personal money is charter school founder Jeremy Kane. He received $310,000 in contributions from individuals and groups, more than any other candidate.
On the other side of the spectrum, real estate developer Bill Freeman, who entered the race last month, has collected almost no money from contributors so far. His single $1,500 donation was from his campaign spokesman, former Tennessee Democratic chairman Chip Forrester.
Criminal Court Clerk Howard Gentry announced his intention to run for mayor last week, after the end of the filing period.
