The developer who hoped to build a second downtown in Bells Bend has pulled his rezoning request for the controversial project.
Metro Planning Commission voted against the zoning change in June. Developer Tony Giarratana had been trying to seek a rehearing on the matter. He even floated the idea of making May Town Center smaller than originally proposed. The city’s legal department determined that would mean starting over again with a new application.
The Commission was scheduled to discuss whether or not to allow a new hearing at its meeting tomorrow. But in a letter delivered today, Giarratana said that Metro Legal’s stance has left him with “no reasonable alternative but to withdraw” his request for a rehearing.
