The downtown highrise that once carried the name of Regions Bank will now be the Nashville home for another financial institution. Swiss banking giant UBS announced today that the building would serve as its North American operations center.
UBS announced last month it would open a hub in Nashville, employing around a thousand people and supporting the bank’s operations in several countries. At the time, company officials didn’t say where it would be located.
Now, the 28 story building on Deadrick Street will become UBS Tower. The bank will take up two floors, starting in the second quarter of next year. The building’s owners tried to sell it last year at an online auction. Nashville-based Rubicon Equities bought it this week for $14.5 million, a full million less than the auction’s minimum bid.
In addition to UBS, the new owners say they plan to use the building’s large plaza and glass lobby for retail space.
