Governor Phil Bredesen says he hasn’t been contacted by the Obama administration about the position of Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Bredesen has been listed as one of the potential picks, after former Senator Tom Daschle withdrew his name for the cabinet position.
Bredesen says he winds up on a lot of so called “short lists,”
I’m a Southern governor, I’ve been involved with health care all my life, and you know I think for that reason my name has been on these lists, and people have sent me various articles with, “here’s your name on this short list,” or whatever, and This as you remember is not the first time this has happened.”
Bredesen is talking the time when he was considered a possible vice-presidential running mate for Barak Obama.
For now, Bredesen says he hasn’t heard from anyone who could be considered an emissary from the White House, and that he’s not “packing his bags or anything.”
