Governor Phil Bredesen says he was “planting the seeds” for future investments in the state on his recent trip to Europe. The governor made stops in Switzerland, Germany, and Poland.
He says there were many conversations on the new megasite in Haywood county. Some company officials had already heard of the investment of federal stimulus dollars in the solar farm — 20 acres of solar collectors in west Tennessee.
No official deals were made, but the governor says none were expected.
“You don’t come back with these trips with signed agreements — those happen in another fashion – but I think we were very successful in conveying to people why Tennessee is a good place to do business.”
On his trip, Governor Bredesen also met with leaders of both Wacker Chemie and Alstom Power, for what he terms a “courtesy call.” After high-dollar investments from both companies, he says it is only proper to pay respects and visit their home offices.
Governor Phil Bredesen signs the budget as ECD Commissioner Matt Kisber looks on.
