There’s a 250-million dollar marina and luxury waterfront project going in near the intersection of Briley Parkway and Lebanon Road in Donelson and now we know when. Developers of what will be called the Cumberland Yacht Harbor set a groundbreaking for the project of November 29th.
The marina near Mills Creek – about three miles up river from downtown Nashville – had been waiting on a major investor to set a hard construction timeline. Tower Investments became the lead investor on the project last week and now completion is set for 2009. The family-owned firm has been busy on the waterfront. Just (yesterday/Wednesday) the company confirmed it has options on the scrap metal recycling site now on the Cumberland River’s east bank.
Senior vice president Alex Marks said today his firm is committed to the city’s big plans for the river.
“Mayor Purcell’s riverfront development plan expresses a bold vision for the east bank, a vision that we will share and that we will be working to achieve. This is a pure example. We are investing in the riverfront with the Cumberland Yacht Harbor and this is where we plan to start and take it from here.”
California-based Tower Investments has been buying up land in Nashville for the last three years, including the five-acre site behind the Nashville Arena tentatively set for a new convention center.
