Washington DC expects a sea of visitors for President Barack Obama’s second inauguration. Organizations across the country plan to bring people by the busload from places like Boston, North Carolina, even as far as Sacramento. But Nashvilians looking for a trip to join aren’t finding much luck.

Shirley Pressley feels like the second inauguration of the nation’s first black president is a last chance to see history.

“I want to go to this one, I want to be there for this one, and I know it may not ever happen again in my time.”

But so far she’s come up dry. Four years ago, private groups put together a range of bus trips from Nashville; this time around, a Google search doesn’t turn up any. Pressley says she’s called the NAACP with no luck. A spokesman for the Tennessee Democratic Party says he’s heard rumors someone was arranging a trip, but as yet, nothing firm.
