A Nashville-based medical software company is buying another local firm with a similar focus. Healthstream will purchase Sy.Med for more than $7 million.
Healthstream makes specialty software for hospitals and doctors. Its products handle everything from patient records to training. The company has clients in all 50 states.
Brentwood-based Sy.Med’s software tracks the credentials of doctors and nurses. It’s a comprehensive process that verifies medical licenses, education, references and criminal history.
It’s also a service that’s missing from Healthstream’s current offerings. Company officials claim once they integrate Sy.Med’s products into their own, their customer’s paperwork will decrease by 70 percent.
The Sy.Med purchase is the latest in several Healthstream deals. Last week, the company announced plans to distribute its software through a Dallas-based healthcare human resources company.
