Tennessee is far from passing any law legalizing gay marriage, or recognizing gay marriages legally performed in other states. But several private companies do recognize domestic partnerships, allowing same-sex couples to share benefits. Some cities have domestic partnership ordinances for city employees. Nashville’s Metro Council will have a final vote on one on June 17.
