The Hermitage Hotel in downtown Nashville earned some bragging rights today…for keeping a tidy toilet.
The men’s lobby restroom was named the best in America by tens of thousands of people who voted online. It’s the 7th year for the contest organized by Cintas Corporation, which sells bathroom supplies.
Gene Poole of Tuscaloosa is staying at the Hermitage Hotel this week.
POOLE: “You walk in, you’re not even sure you’re in a restroom. That sort of takes you back.”
The art-deco bathroom has a pair of shoe-shine chairs, leaded glass tiles and terrazzo floors. It was remodeled in 2002. At least 50-thousand dollars was spent restoring it.
Brad Loutsenhizer makes sure the urinals are filled with ice and the toilets have rose pedals floating in the water at all hours of the day.
“It just adds a personal touch, a nice warm feeling.”
Loutsenhizer says on his watch, the restroom has never run out of toilet paper.
