There are now 15 victims of Hurricane Katrina at a Red Cross shelter in Franklin.
The Williamson County Chapter of the Red Cross is running a shelter at Clearview Baptist Church on Franklin Road. The church has room for 150 people.
Louis Van de Wiehl, a Red Cross volunteer from Carthage, unpacked supplies Wednesday.
“This is a library that the church usually uses. And we’re just making it into a linen closet so that when people come, we can give them a clean pillow, a clean towel, a clean face cloth. We can give them all that and it is something of their own, something new that belongs to them now.”
Van de Wiehl says the church’s large rooms, private showers, and a children’s playground make it an ideal shelter.
The chapter says that national Red Cross officials asked them to set up a shelter.
