Jeff Fisher Asks Fans to Remember McNair as Teammate and Friend

Titans head coach Jeff Fisher asked fans Monday to look past the circumstances surrounding the murder of longtime team quarterback Steve McNair.

“The Steve McNair that I knew would want me to say I’m sorry. I’m not perfect. We all make decisions sometimes that are not in the best interest. Please forgive me.”

McNair was shot multiple times and died Saturday. A 20-year-old woman named Sahel Kazemi was found dead with him in his downtown Nashville condo. She had a single gunshot wound to the head. Police describe Kazemi as McNair’s girlfriend, though he’s married to another woman.

Coach Fisher calls McNair one of the greatest competitors of all time and asks that he be remembered as a teammate and community leader.
