A Clarksville man has been sentenced to just under ten years in prison for his role in a 3 million dollar investment scam.
Kenneth Kennedy is a retired military lawyer who once held elected office in Kentucky. Kennedy and three others, including his wife, were accused of pocketing money from more than 50 people in Tennessee and Kentucky. According to the US Atttorney’s office, they claimed it would be invested in real estate projects that didn’t really exist: a Las Vegas strip mall, new land for Bonnaroo, even a Disney theme park they said was coming to Tennessee.
Kennedy was found guilty of wire and mail fraud. US District Judge William Haynes sentenced him to 100 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Kennedy must also pay restitution to his victims.
