Senate Democratic Leader Jim Kyle has filed legislation to repeal a bill signed into law this week by Governor Bill Haslam. Kyle’s bill would overturn the legislation that keeps cities from creating anti-discrimination rules more stringent than the state’s.
After the governor signed it Monday, Tennessee-based companies like Nissan and Fedex have come out in opposition. The law effectively overturns an anti-bias ordinance in Nashville that keeps city contractors from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation.
