Nashville leaders have a new location in mind for a Metro police administrative headquarters. Mayor Megan Barry told the Metro Council that land on Murfreesboro Pike is being considered.
Before a final decision, she promised to get community feedback.
Last year, former Mayor Karl Dean
drew extreme resistance after trying to relocate the police to Jefferson Street in North Nashville, and the council eventually
denied funding for the plan.
Barry said the new plan should be straightforward because the city is already building a
Family Justice Center on land next door, as
first reported in October by The Tennessean.
“It’s currently owned by Metro, so that makes it an easier site, but I want you all to be able to come and ask questions,” Barry said.
Metro will host its public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at
Trevecca Nazarene University.
