The Tennessee House of Representatives today passed a resolution telling Georgia that Tennessee won’t show up for a boundary dispute. Tennessee is satisfied that the boundary line between the two states, as surveyed in 1818, is accurate, the House said.
House Democratic Leader Gary Odom told the members he had edited out the “tongue in cheek” language that made up the first draft.
“We need to make this a little more serious,” Odom told the members as they refused to entertain the notion that Georgia’s state line should be moved a mile north of the present border, which would give the Peach State access to the Tennessee River.
