Country music icon Loretta Lynn and alternative rocker Jack White received stars on the Music City Walk of Fame on Thursday.
The walkway, which honors prominent contributors to Nashville’s music scene, is in the park next to the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Lynn and White are longtime collaborators. Their work on the 2004 album
Van Lear Rose
earned two Grammys
. Both were all smiles while introducing each other for the star unveilings.
White praised the city’s ability to foster uncommon musical relationships like theirs.
“It speaks volumes about Nashville the city and the people who work for it and monitor it. We’re so honored to be here every day, and we know that there’s only one town in the world where we cold have done it, and it’s Nashville, Tennessee,” White said.
Lynn turned her praise to White.
“I cant say enough about Jack, and you all already know … we needed him, really. Nashville needed Jack White,” Lynn said.
This is the first ceremony at the Walk of Fame in two years.
