Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is making her first swing through Tennessee as campaign season heads closer to the primaries. Mayor Megan Barry hopes to attend the event, but is unsure if her schedule will remain open.
“I have been invited to attend on Friday night, and my hope is that my schedule will allow me to welcome her just as I would want to welcome any presidential candidate who would come to Nashville,” she said.
Mayor Barry, however, did not endorse Secretary Clinton. When asked if she would donate money to Clinton, she said she does not have plans to financially support a presidential campaign.
She laughed and said, “Right now my dollars are going to something else called my own debt!”
Secretary Clinton is scheduled to speak Friday at Fisk University. After her stint in Music City, her campaign will head to Memphis.
