Nashville Mayor Karl Dean opened his budget hearings by saying Nashvillians need not worry about taxes going up.
“I will not propose a property tax increase this year either so that takes the suspense out of the room for the rest of the hearing.”
Dean says the city’s revenue growth has seen a slight increase each year since the recession, but he’s still asking departments where they can cut 3 percent.
Dean calls it an “exercise” that forces departments to look more closely at how they spend taxpayer money.
