Metro Nashville Public Schools is hosting back-to-school bashes and offering families free school supplies.

Metro Nashville Public Schools is hosting a series of back-to-school bashes during the last few weeks of summer vacation.

The 2026-27 school year starts on Aug. 11, and the school district is hosting several events that provide families with free school supplies and backpacks. The family-friendly gatherings will also offer food, music, a chance to connect with school staff and community resource fairs. 

Here’s a list of upcoming event dates/times:

  • Wednesday, July 29, 1–3 p.m. at Nashville School of the Arts (1250 Foster Ave)
    • Signature B schools (Nashville School of the Arts and IT Creswell Arts Magnet)
  • Wednesday, July 29, 4–6 p.m. at Hillsboro High School (3812 Hillsboro Pike)

Camellia Burris

Camellia Burris is an attorney and journalist from Nashville. She is a graduate of Spelman College, Tulane University School of Law, and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she studied at the Toni Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism. She began her journalism career covering housing policies for the San Francisco Public Press before joining the Miami Herald as an investigative reporting fellow. She joined WPLN News in February 2025.
