Metro teachers will soon have a new way to supplement their lessons plans. The school district recently partnered with HealthTeacher.com, a subscription-based online teaching tool that contains lesson plans on 300 topics ranging from how to deal with school violence to the dangers of smoking.
Dr. Tina Bozeman is Metro’s Wellness Coordinator. Bozeman used the online tool when she was a health teacher, and says it was better than relying solely on one health textbook, which gets revised in Metro only once every 6 years.
“If you just watch the news nightly, you can imagine in the course of six years how much information has changed in health education. So, because of my experience with healthteacher.com, I found that they offered very reliable and credible information, which in teaching health education, is invaluable.”
While Healthteacher.com contains lesson plans for health-based issues, the company says lesson plans about mental health and alcohol and drug abuse- issues that can occur with students in any classroom – are downloaded the most.
