Nashvillians casting their ballots in today’s election need to do so at their assigned precinct. That’s different from early voting, and that can cause some confusion.
Poll official Adam Kemper said the rule impacted voters at the Hermitage Branch Library today.
“Probably 75% of the people that have come here today have really ended up going to another location,” he said.
WPLN News spoke to several voters who had to pivot to other assigned polling places nearby.
Across the city, disruptions have been minimal. The power went out at two Bellevue locations — but that did not stop the casting of ballots. One other site started the day using paper ballots because of delays setting up machines. And one precinct had to deal with a fire alarm evacuation.
“Smooth election day,” said Jeff Roberts, elections administrator for Davidson County. “When you’re dealing with 178 locations, lots of things could go off.”
