The teachers union in Metro Schools has ratified a contract that includes, for the first time, 5% bonuses for teachers in North Nashville and five schools with low test scores.
The Metro board of education will vote Tuesday night to approve the salary negotiations.
Metro Nashville Education Association President Erick Huth says he doesn’t think the bonuses will increase student achievement, but the MNEA is willing to study the issue after one year.
