Nashville city leaders are touting the opening of 200 new affordable housing units in East Nashville called Park Point East.
The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) says the project is part of the Cayce Transformation, a plan to revitalize the Cayce Place neighborhood. MDHA says Park Point East includes 203 affordable units, with 115 set aside for current Cayce Place residents. The work is a continuation of the sprawling proposal documented in the first season of WPLN’s series “The Promise.”

Among the former Cayce Place residents who will live in the new development is LaShonda Corley, once a homeowner who became homeless and later found housing through MDHA.
“This is more than just a new apartment,” said Corley. “This is restoration and a new beginning. It’s a reminder that as Nashville continues to grow, we haven’t been left behind. We’re still a part of the community, even if we are low-income. “
Park Point East makes a total of 806 news units built as part of the overhaul. More than half of those units are reserved for current Cayce residents.
