A Murfreesboro medical facility acquired earlier this year by Franklin-based Acadia Healthcare plans to more than double its size in the next year and a half. TrustPoint Hospital announced a $57 million expansion on Wednesday, which would add nearly 150 new beds and 400 new jobs to the facility.
The Murfreesboro hospital specializes in physical rehabilitation and psychiatric services. In a fast-growing region, TrustPoint CEO Jeffrey Woods says a bigger facility will help minimize the number of people turned away each month – usually several hundred.
“I think our goal really is to have this hospital to the right size for the community’s needs today and for the next decade or two, while reaching out more into the community to make sure we’re reaching them closer to home,” Woods says.
Woods says a larger staff also means the hospital can provide more outpatient services, which is also important for the community.
TrustPoint plans to break ground on the expansion in October, pending state approval.
