One of Nashville’s most legendary country music singers died Saturday, one day before being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Seventy-six-year-old Naomi Judd was known for singing alongside her daughter in the music duo, The Judds.
The mother-daughter combo sold more than 20 million albums and had at least a dozen hit songs, including “Love Can Build a Bridge.” The two performed it at the CMT Music Awards last month.

Judd’s daughter Wynonna posted on social media Saturday that she lost her mom “to the disease of mental illness.” According to the Associated Press, Naomi Judd’s husband and fellow singer, Larry Strickland, released a statement saying no further details about her death would be released and asked for privacy as the family grieves.
The Country Music Hall of Fame said the Judd family asked to continue with the induction on Sunday. The duo was scheduled to kick off their first tour in more than a decade this fall.
