Monday was the busiest day ever for people departing Nashville International Airport. 25,000 people boarded a plane. It was a 10 percent jump from the previous single-day record. And the previous record was set on the same Monday after Bonnaroo and CMA Fest last year.
But this year, Nashville also had just hosted the final Stanley Cup game, which was not only sold out but attracted tens of thousands to downtown watch parties.

To put 25,000 departures in perspective, a typical day at Nashville International right now is 18,000.
Airport officials are applauding TSA agents. Even with the record passenger numbers, security screening times never exceeded 15 minutes.
“We greatly appreciate all who worked to make the travel experience at Nashville International Airport as easy and efficient as possible,” CEO Rob Wigington said in a statement. “Focused effort from TSA, our airline partners, Airport Authority employees and our Flying Aces volunteers all contributed to remarkably quick processing times and a notably favorable impression of our city and airport.”
