After Congress failed Friday to pass legislation to keep the Federal Aviation Administration operating, airport construction projects across the country have been halted. At Nashville’s airport, officials are trying to figure out what that will mean.
Nashville Airport spokesperson Emily Richard says they’re currently in meetings to determine which projects will be delayed and what people will be affected by the funding freeze.
“We’re evaluating, we’re in the process. I mean, this obviously went down just a couple days ago so we’re in the process of looking at all of our projects and seeing how we will be impacted at Nashville International.”
The airport’s largest construction job which employs about 350 workers will not be affected. The project is the new rental car facility, which is paid for entirely by user fees.
