President Barack Obama has nominated Nashvillian Jane Branstetter Stranch to sit on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Stranch is a Vanderbilt graduate and a practicing attorney. She’s currently a partner at Branstetter, Stranch and Jennings, where she specializes in employment and labor law and complex litigation.
Two members of Tennessee’s Congressional Delegation issued statements in response to the nomination.
Rep. Jim Cooper, a Democrat, complimented her, saying “her sharp mind and experience with complex legal issues will serve her well on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.”
Republican Senator Bob Corker said, “I called yesterday afternoon to congratulate Ms. Stranch on her nomination and let her know that my staff and I look forward to meeting with her as she goes through the confirmation process.”
