Nashville is now spending about the national average on its parks system after a substantial year-over-year increase. Metro is now putting $155 per resident into Metro Parks. That’s up from $116 per capita last year.
Parks spending is among the latest insights from the annual ParkScore from the Trust for Public Land. Overall, Nashville ranks slightly lower than a year ago, 78th out of the 100 most populated places. This is roughly where the city has hovered since 2020 — and better than the worst ranking of 93 in 2023.
The trust says Nashville’s parks haven’t deteriorated in the past year, but that other cities saw more improvements.
The analysis consistently scores Nashville high for the large size of its parks, but low for having enough parks for residents to walk to within 10 minutes.
