Nashville’s Metro Council wants to know if changes to city laws are needed for electrical bikes to be allowed on the greenways.
During Tuesday’s meeting, councilmembers decided the city should get community input and review data from peer cities. This comes as e-bike stations are being pitched to go near greenways.
Councilmember Burkley Allen says there’s been some recent tension.
“Whether that’s the fault of it being electrical or of just rude bike riders that’s part of the data we need to gather,” she says.
She says the goal is to have data on hand to guide future policymaking.
The city council has decided to pause creating any new laws on the topic until all that work is complete early next year.
