The devastating fire in a large downtown Nashville parking garage was not intentionally set — but the exact cause remains elusive according to fire investigators.
The blaze in the early hours of June 10 damaged multiple levels of the garage at 615 Church Street and has led to an extended closure of Nashville’s Main Library.
The Nashville Fire Department says the fire started on the fourth floor in a secure storage area. Investigators ruled out arson and weather. They’ve probed a possible electrical failure but have been challenged by the extent of the damage, resulting in an “undetermined.” ruling.
A total estimate of the losses and structural impact are still being measured, and the Main Library is scheduled to remain closed through July 28.
