Nashville GOP Campaign Offices Meant to Help Down Ticket

A campaign office for Mitt Romney opens in Green Hills this weekend, making a total of four sites across Nashville to pick up yard signs and bumper stickers. Instead of the candidate’s national organization, local Republicans are responsible. And they’re most interested in Romney’s coattails.

The Republican nominee and running mate Paul Ryan pretty much have the state in the bag, according to party leaders.

“They’re going to win Tennessee.”

But state GOP chairman Chris Devaney says Republicans still need a reason to make it to the polls November 6th, even if they feel Romney doesn’t need their help.

“It also affects all the races down ballot, so it really behooves us to get out the vote for Romney and Ryan.”

Devaney says Davidson County’s down-ballot races are the most important. The GOP is eyeing at least four seats in the state legislature long-held by Democrats. Republicans figure a Romney voter will also help beef up the party’s majorities in the General Assembly.
