Newly elected Nashville Vice Mayor David Briley was also sworn in today, along with the 40-member Metro Council that he will lead.
A light-hearted Briley said he would lead by example — including by aspiring towards brevity in government business. He wrote a 40-word mission statement — one word for each council member.
“We share Nashville’s optimism. We will work to extend economic prosperity to those being left behind; protect our neighborhoods; and build upon the successes in our public schools. We will act transparently; listen to everyone; expect accountability; and deliver results.
“
The Metro Council resumes regular meetings in October.
