The Nashville Zoo today announced a zoological victory: they’ve managed to successfully breed one of the world’s largest species of salamander. Two Eastern Hellbenders were hatched from eggs fertilized in the zoo’s lab.
The species is endangered, and previous attempts to breed them in captivity have failed. The successful attempt involved scientists from Australia and Canada along with the Nashville Zoo’s own staff members.
