Nashville’s Housing Numbers May Not Be At All-Time High, But The Market Still Leads The U.S.

It has been a big year for home sales, and June was the biggest month so far. And the median home price set a record, topping $260,000 dollars. 

Summer is when the home-buying and selling season peaks, and the sellers are having a much better time than the buyers in Nashville.

Thomas Leonard from Lebanon just put his home on the market. It has three bedrooms on seven acres. He was taken aback that he could list it for nearly $400,000. 

“A lot of people told me I should go a little bit higher than, you know, I thought the house would be worth,” Leonard said. “But it turns out since I’ve done my last appraisal, I was pretty close. The prices of houses have gone up considerably since the 11 years we’ve been here.”

The record prices are a result of the elevated home-buying activity. In June, there were nearly 3,900 closings. But that’s still a not a record.  The summer of 2006 was slightly higher.

Even though it’s not an all-time high, Middle Tennessee is still grabbing national attention.

Freddie Mac just deemed Nashville the strongest housing market in the country.
